Ballroom Dance Shoe AccessoriesWhich dance shoe accessories do you really need? Good question! Cedar wood shoe trees, a shoe travel bag, heel protectors? And what about leather shoe care? The first thing to think about is the chrome tanned (suede) soles of your ballroom dancing shoes. As floor wax and dirt naturally builds up on the soles, a wire suede brush will be needed to raise the nap again. This should be done before each use to maintain the optimal amount of slip and grip. You can manage for quite a while with just this one accessory, unless you have a patent leather shoe. Now that is another story! ![]() Some brushes have a velcro tab to cover the wire bristles. This is actually a very good safety feature! The wire is extremely sharp! My advice...brush very carefully. I have sliced my fingers more than once with those wires! Brushes are sold at most dance shoe stores for about $10.00, or you can get a velcro tab wire brush here at DSOL. Other Dance Shoe AccessoriesCedar Wood Shoe Tree![]() A shoe tree made of cedar wood will help to maintain the shape of your shoes and has great deodorizing abilities as well. The split form style shown here generally provides more flexability than the solid style. They are available in different sizes for both men and women, and cost approximately $20.00 a pair. Dance Shoe Heel Protectors![]() Quite often, the heels of ladies ballroom dancing shoes do not wear evenly, causing imbalance and risk of a fall. Plastic heel protectors slip over the heel tip to preserve its shape. When the protectors become worn, just replace them with a new set! Dance Shoes Online carries both the plastic heel protectors and the suede wrap type for less than $3.50 a set. Remember to order the correct heel protector size for your heel style! Dance Shoe Travel Bag![]() To avoid accidental damage to your shoes when travelling, a dance shoe travel bag can save the day! Bags are available in many different styles and colors. The one in the image, is from Dance Shoes Online, and I personally like this one because it has an ajustable strap and a side pocket too. If you need a shoe storage bag as well, these sturdy nylon travel bags can be double duty dance shoe accessories! Draw String Shoe Bag![]() A dance shoes store will usually deliver your new ballroom shoes in a complimentary draw string shoe bag similar to the one in the image. If not, your can buy one here for a nominal fee. Often made of a soft material such as flannel, these bags are handy, but not as durable as a shoe travel bag. They do come in a variety of colors to suit your personal taste!
